Lil Wayne FLAG TRAMPLE WAS AN ACCIDENT I Didn't See It There

Lil Wayne is lying through his diamond-encrusted teeth ... claiming he didn't INTENTIONALLY step on the American flag during a video shoot ... despite the fact he can be seen looking down on Old Glory several times during the performance.

Wayne just tweeted about his controversial video shoot for "God Bless Amerika" in New Orleans ... saying, "I didn't step on the flag on purpose! It's a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it's just there as I perform."

Translation -- I swear it was an accident ... please don't hate me.

Problem is ... during the video, you can see Wayne look down on the flag at several points in the shoot ... yet continues to trample all over the stars and stripes.

So ... you buyin' Weezy's explanation?

Justin Bieber Cleared in Alleged Hit and Run

Justin Bieber was under investigation for a possible hit and run accident involving a paparazzo overnight -- but police have now cleared JB of any wrongdoing ... TMZ has learned.

Justin was leaving the Laugh Factory on Sunset Boulevard around 11:45 PM in his infamous white Ferrari. His pal Lil Twist was there as a passenger, and several paps were on scene shooting the duo.

Once Justin got behind the wheel he motioned for some of the photogs to clear out of the way -- but when he drove off he appeared to pin one of them between the Ferrari and a parked car.

Justin did not stop. LAPD launched an investigation and interviewed Justin a few hours after the incident ... and he told cops he didn't know he hit the photographer (not a TMZ employee).

Police say the photog was not seriously hurt, but was at fault because he was a pedestrian in the roadway.

So, Justin's in the clear ... this time.

NEMA Warns Southern Nigeria of Impending Heavy Rainfall

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has warned residents of the southern parts of the country to prepare for heavy and potentially-dangerous rainfall.
It would be recalled that last year, similar severe weather caused unprecedented flooding in the southern half of the country, resulting in villages being washed away and many people losing their homes.
NEMA said it was issuing the latest early warning based on alerts received from the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development based in Niamey, Niger Republic.  The center issued the warning on Monday evening to countries in the Central, East and West African sub-regions.
In Nigeria, Lagos and its environs are expected to experience heavy torrential rainfall and the advisory means that all residents must take precautions, and
NEMA passionately implored all Nigerians living in the south to take the warning seriously.
Parents and teachers were especially enjoined to keep watchful eyes on their wards while motorists were warned to avoid driving in the rain, but not to stay inside the vehicle if they decided to park.  NEMA also warned parents to avoid sending their wards on errands during the rains, and to avoid dumping of refuse in the drains.
Finally, NEMA advised residents to relocate to higher areas should they be experiencing heavy accumulation of water, and to call the nearest police station or the agency on its emergency numbers: 080022636432; 08160581814 or 08067715203.

Justin Bieber Under Investigaton for Alleged Hit and run

Justin Bieber fled after allegedly driving his Ferrari into a photographer late Monday night on Sunset Boulevard -- and police are anxious to talk to him ... TMZ has learned.

Justin was leaving the Laugh Factory around 11:45 PM in his infamous white Ferrari.

It's unclear if he knew the pap was claiming he'd been hit.

LAPD has launched an investigation into the incident, and is reaching out to Bieber and his representatives.

The paparazzo (not a TMZ employee) was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. Some witnesses were unclear what, if any, injury he suffered ... others suspect he hurt his leg.

11 killed in JTF, Boko Haram Yobe clashes

The Military Joint Task Force  in Yobe State has confirmed that 11 people were killed in separate attacks as suspected members of the Boko Haram sect invaded the Government Secondary School and a military checkpoint in Damaturu, the state capital.
The military spokesman in the state, Lieutenant Eli Lazarus, in a statement on Monday, explained that two teachers, seven students and two insurgents were killed during the attacks.
Apart from the 11 killed, three soldiers, according to the statement, were critically injured in the clash that lasted for over five hours.
The army spokesmen said three of the suspected Boko Haram members were caught alive and were currently in the custody of the JTF.
The Medical Officer of the Damaturu Specialist Hospital, Salem Umar, confirmed that 11 corpses were brought to the hospital and gave the breakdown as seven students of the GSS Damaturu, two teachers of the school and two members of the suspected Boko Haram members.
He added that six students also sustained various degrees of injuries and were currently receiving treatment at the Damaturu Specialists Hospital.
Mohammed Ya’u (SS3 student) Abdulkadir Mohammed (SS2) and Goni Abubakar (SS1), who survived the attacks, said in Damaturu that the suspected insurgents stormed their hostels few minutes after 9pm on Sunday and started shooting sporadically as the panic-striken students fled through the windows and doors of the hostel.
The insurgents, who they said were many, also compelled some of the students to direct them to the teachers’ quarters, after which they were also killed.
Sunday’s attack interrupted the months of ceasefire in Damaturu, a situation that made the state government to further reduce the curfew hours to between 9pm to 6am from 6pm to 6am daily.

Nigeria beat Tahiti 6-1, top group

The Super Eagles shook off fatigue from their long journey from South Africa to steamroll Tahiti in their first group game of the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. The beat the Pacific Islanders 6-1 on Monday.
In a match that saw Nigeria missing several begging chances, defender Elderson Echiejile got two goals, while Italy-based Nnamdi Oduamadi registered the first hat trick of the competition.
Jonathan Tehau, who pulled one back for Tahiti, was on the weeping end when he netted an own-goal.
It was Tahiti’s first appearance at the Confederation Cup and Nigeria’s second. That fact, however, took nothing away from the African champions as they dominated every department of the game.
The Tahitians had adopted a five-man defensive formation but Echiejile’s fifth minute goal forced them out, making the game more fluid. That only opened the way for Oduamadi five minutes later when he grabbed a spilled ball from goalkeeper Xavier Samin to make it 2-0. He struck again in the 26th minute to make it 3-1.
Tahue, grabbing his fourth international goal, scored Tahiti’s first goal at the Confederations Cup, but he was to be on the scorers’ sheet again when he aided Nigeria to their fourth goal with an own-goal in the 68th minute.
Oduamadi, however, resumed scoring in the 76th minute, getting an assist from Brown iideye, who himself had missed three one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
It was Echiejile who capped it all with an assist from Ahmed Musa to finish the game at 6-1 in the 80th minute.
Coach Stephen Keshi was obviously unimpressed with the team’s missed chances but promised he would work on the attack before their next game against Uruguay.
“We didn’t play at a high tempo. Their performance was not as good as it was against Mexico. Perhaps they were looking at the Tahitians as a weaker team. We’re still going to work on that,” he said after the game.
“The fatigue was still there but we hope to freshen up before our game against Uruguay.”
The Nigerian team had arrived late for the competition, landing in Brazil in the early hours of Sunday, few hours before their first training.
Nigeria now top Group B with three points and five goals advantage ahead of Spain who have three points but one goal advantage.
Nigeria will next meet Uruguay on Thursday in their second group game.
