Arsenal have suffered a major blow as
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain
has travelled to Italy to complete a
move to Napoli.
The Argentine striker has agreed a
£34million switch to the Serie A side
as their new boss Rafael Benitez starts
to splash the cash raised by the sale
of Edinson Cavani to PSG for £55m.
Arsenal had made the first move for
Higuain earlier in the summer, with
Arsene Wenger determined to land a
big-name forward, and the 26-year-
old was keen to join the north London
club.
However, the Gunners were not
prepared to meet Real Madrid's
asking price and Napoli made their
move.
Now the Italian club have reached an
agreement with Real and Higuain is
on his way to Italy for a medical and
to complete the formalities of the
move.
Having missed out on Higuain's
signature, Wenger will now be even
more desperate to push through a
deal for Luis Suarez.
